New BCIT Construction Safety Videos available online

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) School of Construction and the Environment (SOCE) is proud to introduce its new Construction Safety Videos on the BCIT Safety in Construction and Environment webpage for BCIT faculty, staff, students and for others in the construction industry to use in the province of British Columbia.

BCIT is committed to conducting all activities in a manner that protects the health and safety of employees, students, and visitors. It endeavours to provide safe tools, materials, equipment, and processes for work and study by meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements for occupational health and safety. The goal is to have an accident free and healthy environment in which to work and learn.

The SOCE Construction Safety Videos educate and train members of the BCIT community to perform their work in a manner that does not jeopardize their safety or the safety of other members of the BCIT community. No safety program can be successful without the equal commitment of management, employees and students.

SOCE strongly supports the concept of a Joint Health & Safety Committee and invites input from all employees and students about any existing or potential hazards. New conditions are constantly arising, and it is impossible to devise or list rules covering every situation that might occur. It is necessary therefore, that each person accept individual responsibility to know the job, be alert, exercise good judgment and use common sense in order to perform one’s work in a safe manner.

Here is a sample QR code for Table Saw usage.

Quick and convenient access to information on equipment and machinery through QR Codes is key to safety. Faculty, staff and students appreciate the convenience of accessing useful videos when using equipment.
