Return-To-Campus Information Bulletin – April 30

As you may recall, in early March the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training (AEST) announced that Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, was advising the presidents of all public post-secondary institutions to prepare for a full return to on-campus education this September.

Since this time, BCIT has been working with our numerous Institute partners to ensure that we prepare for fall return-to-campus learning in a safe and controlled manner.

Today, AEST released this information bulletin sharing the COVID-19 Return-to-Campus Primer that outlines the next steps in planning for a Fall return to post-secondary campuses throughout British Columbia.

We understand there may be many questions about this in the coming months. Building on our success of safely returning activity to campus in a graduated manner, we will continue to work with AEST on the updated Go-Forward Guidelines and Safety Plans.

Thank you,

Glen Magel
Director, Safety, Security and Emergency Management

  1. I don’t think fully back to face-to-face instruction is a good idea. Having online choices is better for school and the students. Talked with some students, they are hesitant to go back to school and consider skip a year full-time or discontinue the part-time study.

    • Hi Adele, over 40% of our programs are already delivered safely on-campus in a blended delivery mode (part on-campus and part online). We are actively working with all of our programs on how to safely return additional learning and teaching activities to our campuses. The extent and nature of these returns will be based on our commitment to continued educational quality and current health and safety guidelines. We will be advising our community of details regarding specific program and course delivery by mid-May. Hopefully this will help ease some concerns.
