With Spring Break just around the corner for most full time technology programs at BCIT, I want to remind you to keep the province-wide health orders top of mind when planning your activities. While it may be tempting to travel to other locations or get together with friends and family, the Provincial Health Officer’s (PHO) order on gatherings is still in effect:
No social gatherings
No social gatherings of any size with anyone other than household or, if you live alone, your core bubble. For example:
- Do not invite friends or extended family into your residence or vacation accommodation
- Do not gather in your backyard, patio, driveway, or anywhere else on your property
- Do not visit restaurants, pubs, or bars with individuals outside of your household
- Do not host playdates for children
Travel advisory
All non-essential travel should be avoided. Consistent with Public Health Orders, this includes travel into and out of B.C. and between regions of the province. For example:
- Do not travel for a vacation
- Do not travel to visit friends or family outside of your household or core bubble
Please note that if you need to travel outside of Canada for essential reasons, you must contact the Student Life Office and quarantine for 14 days upon returning.
Travelling, gathering, or any other activities that go against the PHO orders could jeopardize not only your own health, but the health of your friends, family, peers, and BCIT faculty and staff. View all the current guidelines here
I know it has been nearly a year of pandemic, and a challenging time for all of us, but we sincerely applaud the efforts that staff, faculty, and students have dedicated to keeping our community safe and programs running.
Stay safe and enjoy the break.
