Rob Nason reflects on 50 years of teaching at BCIT and the educational ingredients that have stood the test of time.

In an article published on Academica Forum, Rob shares, “When you’ve been teaching for half a century, you witness a lot of change.

There’s the applicable, like educational modalities and curriculum formats. There’s the exciting, like technological innovations and cultural shifts and movements. And of course, there’s the unprecedented upheavals, like the COVID-19 pandemic, where it’s key to pull together and review everything —  and yes, persevere.

Through five decades as a television instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), there’s a few educational ingredients that truly stand out in preparing students to develop the skills and competencies for a future-proof career that can withstand the test of time: applied learning, industry collaboration, small cohorts, and adaptability.”
