BCIT launches the Centre for the Internet of Things (IoT) to support ongoing digital transformation

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the billions of physical devices around the world that are connected to the Internet and responsible for collecting and sharing data. IoT is making the world more intelligent and responsive by bridging the digital and physical universes.

As part of this important digital transformation, BCIT is introducing Centre for the Internet of Things (Centre for IoT). The Centre for IoT allows BCIT to be at the forefront of this emerging technology with advanced hands-on education and training, industry collaborations, and research.

“We are very excited about the Centre for the Internet of Things. It will provide cutting-edge solutions for industry while supporting faculty and students in gaining real-world experience to embrace and explore possibilities existing within this system,” says Kim Dotto, Dean, Applied Research and the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation “IoT is an emerging technology, a future high-demand profession that is now ready to be implemented by BCIT.”

Jonathan Bassan Director Centre for the Internet of Things IoT

Johny Bassan, Director for the Centre of IoT, brings a wealth of expertise to BCIT with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University and over 30 years of business and product development in the international marketplace.

Registration is now open for this Part-time Studies course. The course is delivered online and learners have 26 weeks from registration date to complete the course.

Applied IoT

A demonstration of the applications of IoT principles in various market segments, such as: smart utilities, industry 4.0, smart city, smart transportation, digital health, and the impact on the planet.

IoT Workshop

A workshop assisting students to setup an IoT application with a hands-on approach. Students will learn to install a smart device and manage the device data in the cloud.
