I hope everyone’s having a safe and enjoyable summer. The Emergency Operations Committee, Safety Security and Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety and many others are busily preparing for the launch of the Fall term in September and I thank you all for your support.
Last week, both BCIT and the Province of BC released Go-Forward Plans outlining health and safety guidance for ongoing operations. I encourage you to read BCIT’s Go-Forward Plan here, and the Province’s here.
We know that the ongoing pandemic and related measures and restrictions can be stressful. Please take care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally so you can help take care of those around you.
We’d like to remind everyone in our community of the importance of maintaining your well-being and mental health. Confidential counselling resources are always available and are so important at this time. Counselling services for faculty and staff can be accessed 24/7 through Homewood Health by calling 1-800-663-1142.
There are also various supports available for students, including:
- Mental Health at Home web resource
- Early Assist program – provides support for students based on referrals from BCIT community members
- The Province of BC’s Here2Talk Program – connects students with mental health supports
- Ongoing counselling services available through BCIT Student Counselling by calling 604-432-8608.
Thank you, and stay safe.
