BCIT Carpentry students Nicholas Fast, Kyle Li, Hairun Huang, and Conor MacPherson are recipients of the 2020 Home Builders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Scholarship. With physical distancing in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, students were presented their scholarships during the online HAVAN Annual General Meeting.
Since 1998, HAVAN and the Centra Cares Program have partnered to provide four annual scholarships to support students in the BCIT Carpentry program. Funding for the scholarships is raised at the HAVAN Annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament sponsored by Preston Mobility and held at the prestigious Swan-e-Set Bay Resort and Country Club. The highly-anticipated evening banquet of the tournament features live and silent auctions to generate funds for the Centra Cares BCIT Scholarships.
On behalf of BCIT School of Construction and the Environment, Don Naidesh, Chief Instructor, Carpentry, gave a heartfelt thanks to HAVAN, the generous sponsors and members, and officially announced the deserving winners.
