BCIT Bookstore shows every little bit helps to support our healthcare workers

Communities across Metro Vancouver have been showing their appreciation and support for frontline healthcare workers with nightly applause and cheering from their doorsteps. More companies and organizations are also stepping up to support healthcare workers who are working around the clock to care for those who have been impacted by COVID-19.

“When Providence Health Care reached out to the BCIT Bookstore to purchase stethoscopes, we knew we had to help in every possible way. We donated all the stethoscopes that we currently had in our inventory to support our healthcare workers in working more efficiently during this challenging time,” explained Jimmy Kim, Associate Director, BCIT Corporate Services.

As BCIT is a major provincial contributor of nurses and allied health professionals within the BC healthcare system, supporting the wellbeing and work of our frontline workers is an important initiative that hits close to home for the BCIT community.

Health Canada and the Provincial Health Officer urges all Canadians to continue practicing social (physical) distancing in efforts to help contain the spread of COVID-19.

BCIT has transitioned to primarily online learning and remote working to promote physical distancing. The Institute continues to follow Health Canada and Provincial Health Officer recommendations in promoting best practices to help prevent COVID-19 transmission on our campuses.
