BCIT is pleased to announce Kathy Siedlaczek as the Dean of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (APQA).
In this role, Kathy will provide leadership to advance the quality of the Institute’s academic programs and the success of our students. She will provide direct support for strategic initiatives in the BCIT Education Plan, in particular the definition and implementation of the new Open Multi-disciplinary Credential (OMC) framework, which will support BCIT’s efforts to improve learner access and facilitate reskilling through flexible learning.
“I look forward to leading the APQA team and working collaboratively with the BCIT community and external partners in support of our academic quality. This is an exciting time for innovative academic initiatives at BCIT, and I am honoured to lead our nationally recognized quality assurance framework into the next decade,” says Kathy.
After more than a decade in the Ontario College system, Kathy joined BCIT in 2005 as an Instructional Development Consultant in the Learning and Teaching Centre. From that role, she later moved into the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance department in 2012 where she was most recently the Associate Dean responsible for the quality of educational programs. She has also served as Chair of BCIT’s Education Council and as a Board of Governor.
Kathy brings a breadth of knowledge to the position. She holds a double bachelor’s degree— Mathematics from the University of British Columbia and Political Science from Carleton University—as well as a Master of Education from Brock University. Kathy is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education at the University of British Columbia.
Congratulations, Kathy!
Way to go, Kathy. Great choice.
Bravo!
