(First graduating class of the accredited Mining Engineering degree with faculty and staff in 2019)
BCIT celebrated its first group of Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) accredited graduates from the BCIT Mining and Mineral Resource Engineering degree in June 2019.
Engineers Canada awards accreditation to programs that meet the academic requirements that are necessary to become licensed with Canada’s engineering regulators. After a rigorous vetting process, the Mining and Mineral Resource Engineering degree received the maximum possible terms for initial accreditation from the CEAB as a result of several years of extremely dedicated work from BCIT faculty, employees, experts in their field and the students. BCIT is proud to add the Mining engineering degree to the growing list of engineering degrees accredited by Engineers Canada. Steven Kuan, Associate Dean, BCIT School of Construction and the Environment says, “Our graduates would now have the academic requirements met as they start their training to become professional mining engineers. This achievement is the result of the hard work of the faculty.”
The Mining and Mineral Resource Engineering degree program was first approved for intake in 2015, allowing students to branch off from the Mineral Exploration and Mining Technology diploma after the first year of studies. The degree had its first group of graduates in the fall of 2018.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
