Top three tips for Bike to Work Week

Bike to Work Week (BTWW) is from May 28–June 3 in 2018. Here’s a quick look at the top three ways to prepare for it at the Burnaby campus.

1. Join the BCIT Bike to Work Week Team – there are some great prizes and lots of Celebration Stations around the Lower Mainland to help you on your rides. To sign up, login to the BTWW website and record a ride. BCIT Burnaby Campus is also hosting a Celebration Station on Wednesday, May 30 from 7:00-9:00am. The station will be located at the Smith Street and Willingdon Avenue entrance. Stop by for some coffee, goodies, a tune-up, and some handy maps! If you’re interested in volunteering at the station, please contact Joe Boyd at joseph_boyd@bcit.ca.

2. Check out the new bike amenities – four Dero Fixit repair stations and air pumps (at SW3, SE16, SW1, and NE1) along with a covered bike shelter and air pump (SE12) have been installed to help cyclists in need of “repair and air.” Keep your eyes peeled for an additional bike shelter (SE16) and more Dero Fixit repair stations (at Burnaby as well as some of the satellite campuses) in the upcoming months! The BCIT bike map can be found here and it shows all types of facilities and amenities across campus.

3. Take part in the Dero Fixit and pump drop-in workshop – on Friday, May 25 from 12:00-1:00pm, the BCIT Bike Committee will be hosting a workshop on how to use the stations. Drop by the main Gateway entrance on the west side of SW1 by the bike racks and Fixit station and pump.
