BCIT is pleased to announce the appointment of Roy Hart as Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Roy joins BCIT with over 25 years’ experience in enterprise IT, strategy, and leadership across multiple sectors, including education, health, justice, social service, and infrastructure. Roy most recently led the information technology portfolio as CIO for Alberta Transportation and Alberta Infrastructure.
“Roy brings exceptional experience and expertise and I am extremely pleased to welcome him to BCIT,” says BCIT President Kathy Kinloch. “With five main campuses, close to 50,000 students enrolled annually, and 2,400 staff and faculty, BCIT has complex information technology needs. Roy’s appointment will support us in optimizing the services and applied education we deliver daily.”
Roy’s career highlights include overseeing the effective academic and administrative use of IT across 1,500 servers, 10,000 desktops, and 250 applications serving approximately 4,800 staff, 26,500 full-time students, and 77,000 part-time students when he was CIO of Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. Roy has also worked as CIO for the Durham Catholic District School Board and led an account team in a $103M IT infrastructure project for the Ministry of Government Services in Ontario.

Roy Hart will begin his new role at BCIT effective February 5, 2018.
