On February 20, 2018, approximately 450 BCIT students crossed the stage to collect their hard-earned diplomas, flipped the tassels on their grad caps—signifying the change from student to graduate—and officially entered the ranks of our nearly 175,000 BCIT alumni. Congratulations to our new graduates, their family and friends, and the faculty and staff who supported them on their education journey. We’re so proud. Below you’ll find photos and videos from the day’s two ceremonies.

Our first ceremony celebrated students from the BCIT Schools of Business, Construction and the Environment, Energy, and Transportation. Our keynote speaker was John Clinton, North American Head of Creative and Content for Edelman, who passionately shared some of his learnings on leadership, including that there is only one rule: the Golden Rule.
“Always treat others as you want to be treated. Be good people. Lead well. We’ve hit our quota of jerks. We don’t need any more.”
Some of his other takeaways? There’s no straight line to success. All of your experience counts. Failure offers more learning opportunities than does success. Always have a side hustle—it’ll keep you interesting. Get out and see the world. And never stop being a student.
