Hey guys, I’m back again to talk about something awesome that the Counselling and Student Development team has set up for the Burnaby campus!
I know that I’ve personally been feeling pretty bummed about the recent bout of very gray skies and rain. It’s taken a toll on my mood for sure, but there have recently been 8 full spectrum daylight lamps put in to help boost your mood! These lamps can be super helpful in treating Seasonal Affective Disorder. The best part about this is they’re free to use, and really accessible!
How to use them!
The stations are super easy to use, all you have to do is find the location and turn the lamp on! They’re pre-set to 30 minutes, which is the recommended time usage. You don’t have to worry about using it for not enough time or too much time.
Bear with me, I know how busy we all are with finals approaching and so many assignments being due. But these lamps are really easy to use, and they’re in locations where you don’t have to go alone! You can always bring a friend or some friends with you and you can all get your dose of sunlight! You may also run into some new potential friends at the sun stations! If you do want to be by yourself, these stations provide an excellent opportunity to work on things by yourself.
An added bonus is that some of the sun stations have inflatable palm trees, which I find makes me feel like I’m on a tropical beach, which is never a bad thing.
All in all, these stations can be beneficial if you choose to use them, be that by yourself or with some friends. Don’t forget to take care of yourself, especially in this dreary weather we’re having.

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Wesam Ali and I’m an HVAC technician. In addtion, I’ve gained about 2 years of experience in installation of Sun Energy equipment in commercial buildings in Libya. I also have experience in installing electrical wiring for houses.
I would like to advance my education by taking advanced-level courses or a dimploma in advanced usage and installation of Sun Energy Technology in houses, buildings and other structures. I would like to start my education as soon as possible.
I would like to know how long the program is, how much does it cost per semester, knowing that my English level is not advanced. I also would like to know if there’s a chance in the future to have any sort of financial assistance.
Thanks,
Wesam Ali,
Libyan citizen currently living in Egypt
P.S. A friend of mine who lived in North America for over 20 years has helped me writing this letter.
Hi Wisam,
I suggest you reach out to BCIT International for help with credential evaluation and course selection. Best of luck!
