BCIT Professional Sales students peek inside the Vancouver Canucks’ business

BCIT Professional Sales students got to attend an elite class last week. The Vancouver Canucks hosted an exclusive seminar for 2nd year students in the club’s locker room.

The seminar, which took place January 4th, was led by Michael Cosentino, Vice President of Sales & Service, and James Douglas, Director of Business Development (and a BCIT Marketing alum). They spoke about the business of sports franchises and how revenue is generated beyond ticket sales. Michael and James also presented tips on negotiating, managing difficult clients, and how to pursue a career in sports marketing.

“BCIT Professional Sales students always appreciate engaging with industry professionals,” says Bruce Anthony, Program Head of the Professional Sales program. “Meeting with the Vancouver Canucks executives in such a unique venue helps to differentiate our program from the competition. The experience will also help to keep students motivated through their final term.”

After the seminar the students got to watch the Canucks win against the Arizona Coyotes and continue their 5-game winning streak.
