June 17, 2021 – CASIS Vancouver Digital Roundtable

June 10, 2021 by Fiona Kerr

CASIS Vancouver is hosting a Digital Roundtable on June 17, 2021 at 18:30 PDT, via Zoom, for those interested in knowing more about how memes are being utilized to spread and normalize hate, and even to facilitate recruitment into extremist groups.

CASIS Vancouver Digital Roundtables present an opportunity to discuss emerging security concerns with practitioners and academic researchers involved in policy, tactical, and strategic decision making.

This June Digital Roundtable will have three speakers offering slightly different perspectives on the same topic:

Dr. Viveca S. Greene, Associate Professor of Media Studies at Hampshire College where she teaches courses on comedy and cultural politics, audience research, and critical media studies.
Makena Rasmussen, Graduate of Media Studies from Hampshire College and writer for Meme Insider
Dutch Clark, Graduate of Media Studies from Hampshire College and intern at Trademark Event Productions

Digital Roundtables are free for CASIS members. Non member can purchase tickets and get more information about this and future Digital Roundtables at  https://casisvancouver.ca/roundtables2021/

Kind regards,

Eduardo Franco
Deputy Executive Officer, Events
