XPERA Risk Mitigation and Investigation – Coquitlam, BC
The Investigator (Research & Analytics) will conduct a wide variety of detailed, quality and timely research and investigative assignments. This position will work within the Cyber Research Center (CRC) and collaborate with CRC team members on a daily basis. Along with possessing an investigative mindset, advanced report writing, and research skills, a strong command of grammar and the English language are essential to success in this role.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment under the pressure of tight deadlines. Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills are required. Must conduct all investigations in a professional manner and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

**NOTE: The current job opening is for an employee working in the Coquitlam, BC office. Although it is in specific reference to an Investigator working primarily in an office environment, some field work may be required as file demands dictate.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of research and/or investigation experience

Education

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in a related social science field such as criminology, forensic crime and intelligence analysis, sociology, psychology, etc.
  • Holds a valid Private Investigator License in the Province of BC (Alternatively, is enrolled in the Introduction to Private Investigation online training course and scheduled to write the exam within the next two months)

  • Ability to collect, exploit and disseminate publicly available information in a timely manner to an appropriate audience for the purpose of addressing a specific intelligence requirement
  • Ability to determine data’s source and reliability, as well as provide meaningful analysis
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Strong Computer skills, with accurate typing
  • Thorough, detail-oriented, analytical, and systematic thinker
  • Ability to apply an investigative mindset and think outside the box
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining focus on the task at hand, handling multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to be creative with strong problem-solving skills
  • Client-focused, results-oriented, and decisive
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Effective time management and adherence to strict deadlines
  • Understanding of threat risk assessments and analytics
  • Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, insurance law and privacy legislation an asset
  • Able to manage conflicting demands from various divisions and managers
  • Flexible work schedule – some evening and weekend work may be required
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Reliable vehicle currently licensed for business/commercial purposes and clean driving record

  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience. We offer competitive wages, RRSP along with group medical and dental benefits.

  • Investigations: 1 year

Required license or certification:

  • BC Private Investigator license
