Volunteer Opportunity in the Forensic DNA Lab

The BCIT Forensic DNA Lab is looking for a volunteer in the DNA lab on an ongoing basis one day a week. The volunteer would be responsible for create electronic case files for ongoing casework, decontaminating lab spaces and equipment, assembling DNA collection kits and other tasks associated with the day to day operation of an accredited forensic DNA laboratory. While the position would not allow participation in active casework, lab personnel will attempt to take every opportunity to expose the volunteer to as many forensic science techniques and interpretation as possible.

Volunteer should be available to come into the lab during standard business hours (8:00-4:30) one day a week. Preference will be given to students who have completed or are currently enrolled in FSCT 8150 and FSCT 8160. Time spent would count towards practicum hours as part of the B. Tech program.
