Forensic Psychiatric Hospital
70 Colony Farm Road Coquitlam, BC
The Forensic Psychiatric Hospital (FPH) is a world leader in providing psychiatric care through its unique, multi-site health organization. A multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other health care professionals, work in close partnership to provide specialized hospital and community-based services for adults with mental illness who are in conflict with the law. Our unified provincial forensic psychiatric services are provided in various clinics throughout the province of British Columbia.
We are currently accepting applications for casual opportunities to work with one of the premier forensic psychiatry health care teams in the world that will appeal to a detail-oriented individual who is experienced in the field of forensic psychiatric nursing. Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Leader or designate, and drawing on your high standards of integrity and responsibility, you will provide care planning and care delivery services to these forensic psychiatric patients. You will apply your knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures to address the physical and psychological needs of individual patients, and at times you may be required to resolve issues independently. Your value as a forensic psychiatric nurse will come into play as you participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team, assess patient care outcomes, make appropriate revisions to care plans and serve as an advocate for patients and their families. This hands-on role with individuals who are remanded by the courts will also see you support patients in psychosocial, life and personal care skills. Your profile is highlighted by a diploma in Psychiatric Nursing or General Nursing, and registration with CRNBC or CRPNBC. Your success in furthering the health and well-being of our patients will be built upon a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including sound judgement and tact. You must demonstrate strong capabilities in dealing with the public, as well as preparing and maintaining records, charts and reports. Directly related experience in a forensic setting or specialized nursing of psychiatric patients is preferred.
