The Use of “Drone” Technology for Investigative and Incident Management Purposes
Technology once strictly reserved for military applications, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), which are commonly referred to as “Drones”, are now being used for multitude of non-military applications such as; law enforcement, firefighting, search and rescue, and other field where the advantage of having an aerial perspective is invaluable.
The focus of BCIT’s 2016 UAV symposium is to provide attendees with an understanding of what is required in order to develop a successful in-house UAS program for their working environment. From managing privacy issues to ensuring you are using the right technology legally, this symposium is a must for those thinking of delving into this exciting new technology.
Whether your use will be strictly operational to monitor and assess a real-time situation or for the collection of visual evidence at an incident scene, our panel of speakers will provide you the knowledge required to take advantage of this emerging technology.
Our panel of speakers will cover the following topics:
- Rules and Regulations for commercial UAV use in Canada: Transport Canada
- Navigating Privacy Issues when using UAV’s to collect sensitive information
- How to develop and maintain an in-house UAS program
- Legal challenges to the collection of UAV based evidence
- Overview of the current UAV technology available for commercial use and future trends
*Along with the above presentations, a live UAS demonstration will also take place.
