The Office of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth seeks an experienced and motivated Investigator for its new Investigations unit. The Investigator will plan, develop, lead, and manage file reviews, complex investigations and special reviews involving sensitive and high profile cases. The Investigators will also identify service gaps and key areas where improvement to services and programs for children and youth is required, and provide recommendations. This position will report to the Supervisor of Investigations, or another member of management depending on assignment.
Qualifications
• Extensive experience with specialized subject knowledge or experience in investigations such as pediatric health services, children’s mental health services or child development services;
• Knowledge of Ontario’s child welfare system;
• Extensive knowledge of the complexities of child protection policies and procedures and child protection systems in Ontario;
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing investigations plan;
• Strong investigative skills: observation, deduction, tact, and intuition;
• Strong social skills and excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Extensive experience with interviewing and engaging others;
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills;
• Ability to work with diverse team members while also working independently;
• Committed to the application of administrative fairness;
• Well-developed analytical and reasoning skills;
• Demonstrated knowledge of social policy issues and the challenges in delivering public services in Ontario.
