Education
A two year diploma or a three year university degree from a recognized Canadian post secondary educational institution in either a scientific or technical field.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting routine forensic analyses, assessing results and reporting findings in writing.
- Presenting expert testimony in court on exhibit handling continuity and analyses.
- Carrying out quality control activities on completed forensic analyses.
- Maintaining, calibrating and operating scientific instruments and equipment.
- Participating in the development of analytical methodology.
- Assisting in the training of laboratory personnel and clients.
- Ordering material and preparing reagents for laboratory analyses and receiving and disposing of firearms seized under various federal acts.
- Maintaining and augmenting firearms and ammunition reference collections.
- Assisting firearms examiners with the creation and maintenance of firearms and ammunition databases.
