Nurse Examiners Education Day on June 3rd

The workshop will include both didactic and clinical practice in a variety of aspects directly related to the role and responsibilities of the nurse examiner in the clinical setting.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
DATE: Monday, June 3, 2013
LOCATION: Surrey Memorial Hospital, 13750 – 96th Avenue, Shirley Dean Pavilion Room A
TIME: 08:45 to 16:00
COST: $70 (CRN 60880)

TOPICS OF THE DIDACTIC COMPONENT:

  • Professional demeanour and responsibilities for those working in sexual violence
  • Update on documentation guidelines
  • Current research findings pertinent to sexual violence
  • Update on HIV post exposure prophylaxis

TOPICS OF THE CLINICAL COMPONENT
The clinical component of the workshop is an interactive mock examination for the students with emphasis on the following areas:

  • Pre and post examination processes
  • Use of alternate light source for detection of evidence
  • Collection and preservation of forensic evidence
  • Discussion and evaluation of clinical component
