PlayNow Security Investigator

The objective of the PlayNow Security Investigator role is to primarily conduct specialized investigations to ensure the integrity and security of the PlayNow online gaming business, and to resolve PlayNow customer related complaints and questions. This position also reviews all PlayNow systems and transactions on a regular basis so that trend and data analysis can be completed in order to survey the integrity of the PlayNow business. The PlayNow Security Investigator will also be responsible to collaborate with internal departments to expedite customer issues/resolutions. The investigator must be able to liaise and respond to external governing stakeholders to ensure that regulatory matters are communicated and reported in a timely manner.  The job could also include other forms of lottery investigations.

Accountabilities:

  • Regularly interprets, applies and recommends standards, policies and procedures and ensures that the Criminal Code, Provincial Statues (pertaining to gaming) and rules and regulations are being followed to protect the integrity and security of the assigned portfolio.
  • Maintains and manages strong working relationships with various internal contacts and departments, in addition to various external stakeholders including the player/public, vendors/suppliers, service providers/retailers and regulatory and government bodies in order to ensure complaints are responded to appropriately, the correct authorities are notified and follow up is complete.

Education and Experience:

  • The knowledge and skills for this position would typically be acquired through a degree or diploma in Business or Criminology and/or 3 to 5 years recent experience in field investigations, security or compliance.
  • Significant (3 to 5 years) experience in dealing with customer/client interaction(s) as it relates to security and/or compliance concerns.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Field Investigator

The Investigations Division is seeking a service-oriented team player to work with case managers and occupational health and safety professionals with a focus on investigating fraud and misrepresentation. The winning candidate will conduct investigations, make recommendations, and pursue enforcement actions up to and including criminal prosecution when appropriate.

As a qualified candidate, you are able to:

  • Independently plan, prioritize, and manage a large caseload involving multiple tasks and changing priorities, in order to successfully complete investigative assignments
  • Conduct investigations on complex/sensitive cases and Workers Compensation Act violations that may lead to the imposition of sanctions
  • Identify, interpret, and analyze issues in a systematic fashion using accepted investigative techniques in order to reach an appropriate conclusion
  • Investigate alleged infractions relating to the Workers Compensation Act, the Offence Act, the Criminal Code of Canada and other legislation as required
  • Assist Board Officers with investigations on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to, fraud, misrepresentation, compliance issues, fatal and/or serious workplace accidents, and other matters as assigned
  • Prepare comprehensive confidential reports for internal use, and the laying of criminal charges
  • Establish and maintain internal and external contacts to facilitate the investigation process

You possess the following experience and educational background:

  • Post-secondary education in criminal justice or a related field
  • A minimum of six years experience conducting investigations under a statutory regime
  • A thorough and current knowledge of Canadian criminal law, surveillance operations, and interviewing and evidence collection, particularly in a regulatory-investigation setting
  • Certified Fraud Examiner designation is preferred
