Job Summary: To conduct research, interpret, prepare, analyze, and disseminate information relevant to actual and anticipated criminal activities and relationships, to increase the effectiveness of patrol deployment, crime prevention and the apprehension and prosecution of criminal offenders
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field; or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a law enforcement agency, with increasing responsibility for compiling and analyzing data;
Ability to obtain CJIS Certification within six (6) months of appointment and maintain certification thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications: Training and/or certification in crime analysis methods, including Crime Analysis Applications, Pen Link Telephone Toll Analysis, CrimeView and Intelligence Analyst Notebook; and ArcGIS or mapping software; and prior experience in a law enforcement crime analysis capacity is preferred;
Education/Experience Review: All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be rated based on the type (relatedness) and extent of their education and experience as they document on the expanded application provided.
Oral Exam: The top scoring applicants from the Education and Experience review will be invited to participate in the oral exam. In addition, applicants eligible for veteran’s preference that pass the Education and Experience review will move forward to the oral exam. If selected, you will be notified by letter regarding the date, time, and location of the oral exam. Applicants who pass the Exam will have their names placed on an eligible list for this position.

CRIME & INTELLIGENCE ANALYST
POLICE DEPARTMENT
POSITION SUMMARY: Advanced level technical work involving the correlation and identification of patterns, trends, common characteristics and the underlying causes of crime to assist in the development of law enforcement programs and to improve the effectiveness of criminal apprehension and crime prevention. Work is reviewed through conferences, conversations, observation, the analysis of reports and recommendations and the evaluation of results achieved. This position is a two (2) year Grant funded position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of 12 credits in criminal justice, information systems, and/or statistics. Specific criminal intelligence analyst training from an accredited organization such as Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is preferred. At least three (3) years’ experience working for a law enforcement agency performing research, data analysis, statistics, and working with ArcGIS mapping software is required. A comparable amount of training,
education, or work experience in crime analysis / crime intelligence may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Valid Florida Driver’s License and maintenance of clean driving record may be required.
