Pink Whitney SOLD OUT Everywhere!!

If you know anything about Barstool Sports podcast ‘Spittin Chiclets’ you’ve heard about The Pink Whitney. The Pink Whitney is a pink lemonade New Amsterdam Vodka. The Spittin Chiclets crew released their Pink Whitney vodka inspired by, former hockey player, and member of the podcast Ryan Whitney’s favourite drink. Though the vodka has been available in the states for awhile, it just released in select provinces in Canada on November 18th.

Since the release of the Pink Whitney all BC liquor stores and private liquor stores have been selling out within minutes. Most stores have had to enforce a 2 bottle limit. Though that still has people lining up for store openings to get their hands on the delicious beverage. People are often reserving them and buying them before the bottles hit the shelves. When I found out about the release i didn’t realize how popular it would be and was constantly let down by all the BC liquor stores, so I crossed the line and got some from good old Fred Meyer in bellingham, though not everyone can do that.

Many of those who got their hands on the Pink Whitney have said that it’s an easy drinker on its own but  is a bit “girly”. Though I heard that from some hockey players I know who pull benders every weekend, so they may be immune to the burning sensation that is vodka. Looking online many people are saying that the vodka is good to mix with sprite, club soda, or your choice of juice.

Before launching in canada 1 million Pink Whitney’s had sold in the United States. I’m pretty sure we’ve almost hit the same number of bottles sold over here in Canada or will soon. The buzz over The New Amsterdam Pink Whitney vodka  is not going away anytime soon.

Adult Advent Calendars!

As a child the start of December meant two things, the start of the christmas season and the start of my annual advent calendar. As you grow up the basic cheap chocolate calendar isn’t appealing anymore because as an adult in your 20s chocolate isn’t as exciting as it was when you were 10. I’m a big tradition person and i wasn’t ready to give up advent calendars but was bored of the basic chocolate ones. Then I discovered adult advent calendars.

Dairy Milk Advent Calendar 2 Pack

Now adult advent calendars come in many different shapes and sizes. I found there were actually more options for adults than for kids. There are health and wellness, makeup, liquor, cheese, and even sock advent calendars to name a few.

Here are a few advent calendars for those of us who are a bit older but still want advent calendars:

Nude Beverages Advent Calendar

The limited addition alcoholic calendar includes nude vodka soda, gin soda, iced tea, and tequila soda for 24 days of boozy fun. The calendar also has all of Nude’s flavours incorporated into the calendar. The Calendar is available to purchase online, at any BC Liquor store, and at select private liquor stores. The calendar is going for a retail price of $52.99.

12 Nights Of Wellness Advent Calendar by Saje

If you are going to attempt to relax during this chaotic holiday season Saje’s advent calendar may be the one for you! The 12 days of wellness advent calendar includes a diffuser along with saje brand roll on essential oils and specific oils to use in the diffuser. It seems to me like the perfect thing for a stressed college student transitioning from their intense studying for  finals to christmas vacation mode. The calendar is available online and in store for $48.

Tim Hortons Advent Calendar

Canada’s famous coffee chain has created a 24 variety pack K Cup advent calendar. The K – Cups are compatible with any Keurig Brewers.
Tim Hortons
The calendar includes:

  • 3 original
  • 3 dark roast
  • 3 colombian
  • 3 expresso
  • 3 french vanilla
  • 3 hazelnut
  • 3 steeped tea
  • 3 hot chocolate

The calendars are available online on their website and on Ebay for $56.

Vegan 24 Days Of Candy Advent Calendar by Squish Candy

When looking for “adult advent calendars” this calendars this calendar came up quite a lot. I feel its because the product is vegan that makes it an adult advent calendar, as kids don’t really “go vegan”. Also the price point being $40 makes it appeal more to adults than children. Parents aren’t going to buy their kids anything more than the $10 ones at the grocery store, because for little kids that’s enough to make their day. The calendar is filled with vegan sour and normal gummy candy in addition to having adult flavours such as wine.

Makeup Advent Calendars

Many makeup companies take advantage of the christmas season and release advent calendars. These are not available for many teenagers because they just are way too expensive. A few of the notable brands releasing calendars this year are:

  • Mac Cosmetics – $195
  • NYX – $52.50
  • Sephora – $60
  • Charlotte Tilbury – $250

Not all the calendars, but most are often are giving you 12 tester sized products for a much too  expensive price. As you can see these are probably the more expensive advent calendars in the market.

It’s only December 2nd so go get your advent calendars while you can!

The Black Keys return to Rogers Arena

This weekend if you don’t have any plans and are looking to checking out some live music american rock band ‘The Black Keys’ are coming to town at the end of this week.

The american rock band marked their return to music with their single Lo/Hi. Their last music release was in 2014. The band went on an unplanned 5 year hiatus.

The Black Keys Live // Phoenix, AZ

The band took a hiatus because touring was starting to take a toll on their personal lives and they were just feeling exhausted. Though they joke that it was because they hate each other, when in reality they act like their brothers.

Last time The Black Keys brought a tour to Vancouver was 2012 for their El Camino tour. The tour spanned from January 2012 – June 2013.

Opening up for the band is american rock band Modest Mouse and rock punk band Shannon and The Clams.

The Black Keys at MSG 3-22-12

The first leg of the tour has been going on since September and is actually ending the leg of the tour in Vancouver on Sunday.

Like in 2012 The Black Keys and their lets rock tour will be taking the stage at Rogers Arena once again. They’re show is set for this Sunday, November 24th at rogers. Tickets are still available via ticketmaster if you are wanting to check it out.

Leonard Cohen releases posthumous album

Picture this …. Your favourite artist passes away

Your struggling with the fact that not just a person you love died but you’ll never get new music from them.

So many artists have made amazing songs that will never be released because they’ve passed.Though that seems to not be the case for artist Leonard Cohen.

Thanks to Cohen’s son, Adam Cohen will be releasing some songs left out of his father’s 2016 album “You want it darker”. Adam asked some of his late father’s long time collaborators to help get all the music together to release the album as a tribute to his father.

Leonard Cohen

With this album being released it made me think, have any other artist’s families or business partners  done the same thing?

Some influential artists that you may or may not have forgotten had music released after their death are:

Michael jackson

Of course had a few albums released after his death (xscape, immortal). In addition to the new music he got a show in vegas too.

Chris Cornell

His self titled album was released a year and a half after his death. His wife Vicky was the one behind the release. She’s said to have done it for his fans.

After his sudden death youth around the world were in shock. The artist really hit mainstream success right before his death. After the artist passed two songs were released with collaborations with other artists and a whole album was released at the end of the year of his passing.

Overall having an album released after an artists passing can bring closure to fans and the family. It can come across as an odd thing for the family to do but i believe the fans really do appreciate any exclusive material that is released, that may not have been shared with them before.
