Atlanta Braves got the big W at the World Series but the Jays might be feeling blue

It’s official: the Braves have now won a total of four World Series titles!

The first one was in 1914, then in 1957, and the last one was in 1995.

But wait, drum roll please… 2021 is now part of their roster.

Late Tuesday night, the team won the title after beating the Houston Astros 7-0 in Game 6 at the Minute Maid Park.

Today, ATL had a two-stage parade to celebrate their win for the first time in 26 years and the Braves were cheered on by hundreds of thousands of their loyal fans. Some of the schools were even closed so the students can party and get with the rest of Atlanta. They even had a free concert featuring Atlanta rappers, Ludacris and Big Boi.

They deserve it, obvi!

The team’s general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, however, was unable to attend Game 6 because he tested positive for COVID-19. But he spoke at the ceremony from his suite and said, “Flags fly forever, 2021 will fly forever!”

I think that this news is a bit bittersweet for the Toronto Blue Jays though since Alex Anthopoulos got the last laugh in the end. Six years after walking away from the team, he became the first Canadian general manager to win the World Series. No doubt that his spot in the record books is forever secure after this momentous achievement.

Anthopoulos’ big trade deadline push was definitely a good move. Eddie Rosario and Jorge Soler, as well as Adam Duvall whom they acquired just a couple of weeks before the match has proven to be the key players that brought about this year’s win.

I guess we’ll never really know what could have been if Alex Anthopoulos never left the Toronto Blue Jays. But that’s okay, we just gotta fly and move on. Soar high, Blue Jays!

And congratulations to the Atlanta Braves!
