Diego Armando Maradona grew up in a small town called Villa Fiorito, Argentina.

A place where hustle and devotion was infused in the blood of hard working people and children with dreams. Anything that may have resembled the sport of football was enough to satisfy Diego and all of the emotions that made an impact on his life and goals.

Rolled up newspaper or an empty can on an open road, Maradona would kick it all the way to school, using his imagination to motor his love for a game, the game of football.

At the age of three years old, when Maradona received his very first soccer ball, he slept with it, every single night.

Until the age of 15. Football was engraved inĀ Diego Maradona’s soul.

Growing up in a place like Villa, it was the opposite of easy trying to maintain a love for a game like football and still be able to pursue a dream of making it big. Villa Fiorito wasn’t a safe place for children, many people who have made it out with success have been ashamed to admit they come from Villa..

but not Diego Maradona.

Maradona embraced it with the highest honour, he said that if it weren’t for his home, and what he went through to get to where he is, there never would’ve been a Diego Maradona.

Maradona is immortal amongst the people of Argentina, comparable to that of Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordan, he is known for being a philosopher for his sport, creating new love and attraction to his respective sport. Children that come from Villa have opened their minds to succeeding the way Diego Maradona did.

Leading Argentina to their first and only World Cup victory in 1986, that is what changed the name and brand of Diego Maradona forever.

Show stopping goals and elegant assists, his talent on the field was unmatched and admired among all football fans regardless of who didn’t like the person Diego.

A troubled life outside of football and stories of struggle and trying times to overcome the punches life threw his way, Diego Maradona helped create a new path for children not on in Villa Fiorita, Argentina..

but that of many children all across the world.

RIP Diego Maradona,

1960-2020.
