There’s plenty of buzz going around the city, it’s hard to ignore. The NHL season just started last Wednesday, and with this meant the start to a new beginning for the Vancouver Canucks. With Daniel and Henrik Sedin calling it a career in April, it was the end of an era, but a new one begins as the Canucks will dress a much younger team for the 2018-2019 NHL season. The prospect pool at the start of the season was loaded, but one who really stand out was 2017 1st round draft pick Elias Pettersson. This kid has all the tools in his toolbox and people all around the city are going crazy over the nineteen year old. He has already impressed and is so far living up to the hype that surrounds him, as he has netted 5 points in his first two games in the NHL. It will be exciting to see how many points he ends up with by the time the season comes to an end in early April. Brock Boeser, Nikolay Goldobin, Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi are a few of the youngsters who were already giving hockey fans something to look forward to last year. But now with the impressive play by Pettersson, and the possibilities of their deep prospect pool, hockey is becoming entertaining again in the city of Vancouver. Perhaps in a few years time, these youngsters will be taking the Vancouver Canucks to the promise land and giving us our first Stanley Cup.
