Coming from immigrant filipino backgrounds, these two childhood friends have come together to achieve both their lifelong goals as artists. Creating a singing-rapping duo, known formally as Manila Grey, best friends Solvien and Neeko have been building a stronger name in the music industry, starting at home first in Vancouver, British Columbia. These two have been writing music since the summer of 2009, where Solvien would take over vocals and Neeko would rap in the songs they created together.

The two admit that a lot of their musical inspiration and influence comes from their filipino background. A huge differentiating factor with this group compared to many in the music industry is their passion for their filipino heritage. Many journalism outlets compare the sound of Manila Grey to be of close comparison to The Weeknd or Majid Jordan’s style and vibe of music production.

In October 2017, Manila Grey had released their successful album No Saints Under Palm Shade that had gotten mad attention here in Vancouver, performing packed shows at various nightclubs this past year. Their sinlge Youth Water reached 1.2 million views, while their newest single Timezones had reached 1.7 million views on YouTube. This hip hop/rap duo has definitely put their foot in the door by starting small and working hard to get to the top.
