Ever wonder how a regular guy from Vancouver grew up to become one of the biggest names in Hollywood? They all have to come from somewhere, and heartthrob Ryan Reynolds is no exception.
The quick-witted actor grew up in Vancouver and starting acting when he was 13 years old after auditioning at an open casting call. It was at that audition where he scored a main role in a Nickelodeon show called Hillside, which ran from 1991-1993. After the series finished, he came back to Vancouver and had a recurring role in The Odyssey before he graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School the next year.
Believe it or not, but things weren’t always easy for Reynolds. He spent his nights working at a grocery store as a clerk in order to make a living for himself. Ryan was also studying at Kwantlen Polytechnic University at the time, but dropped out within a year. The decision was made so that he could move to Los Angeles in an attempt to find a more steady and reliable job.
It clearly worked out in his favour, as this lead to him landing roles in a few movies and television shows. These jobs helped him gain experience and boost his acting resume.
