The Biggest News Announced on Today’s Nintendo Direct

Super Smash Bros. is coming to Switch.

Oh my god. It’s actually happening. Easily the biggest announcement came at the very tail end of the relatively lucklaster Direct. The quick teaser showed that the two Splatoon characters will be joining the typical Smash roster, and we can’t wait to see who else ends up joining the brawl. Super Smash Bros. will hit Switch in 2018, and I may have to finally pony up the four hundred dollars to buy one.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is coming to Switch.

I’ve already beaten this one on the PS4, but it’s such a huge surprise that a game this vulgar is finding it’s way onto a typically prudish, Nintendo console. Looks like the Switch is the Nintendo bad boy console. The tactical-rpg/fart simulator arrives on Switch April 24.

Splatoon 2 is Getting quite the upgrade

I have to admit, Splatoon is not for me. I just find the community behind this game kind of cringey. Regardless, the game has proven to be Nintendo’s most popular new IP in years. Nintendo showed off a trailer for the new “Octo Expansion” for Splatoon 2, the first paid DLC for the game. A bunch of free content was also teased, including a new X rank for multiplayer, and a bunch of additional costumes to unlock.

Crash bandicoot n-sane trilogy is ported to the switch, coming july 10

Previously thought to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive, Activision has decided to port the remake trilogy to the Nintendo Switch. This marks the very first time the original Crash games will be playable on a Nintendo console!

There were a few other things announced during the long direct including:

  • WarioWare Gold, featuring 300 microgames, hits 3DS on August 3.
  • Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story is being remade for 3DS along with Bowser Jr.’s Story, both for 2019.
  • A 3DS remake of the original Luigi’s Mansion
  • Octopath Traveler is out on July 13. This looks amazing…
  • Undertale is coming to Switch
  • Hyrule Warriors comes to Switch on May 18
  • Little Nightmares will be out on Switch on May 18
