Evolution 1079 Presents: Impact FEST is coming to Pat’s Pub & Brewhouse (403 E Hastings St, Vancouver, BC) this Friday. The event focuses on the current state of music and the impact the internet has had on the industry. Local acts Pleasure Blimps, The Top Boost, and Tayt Modern are joining the party to bring this topic to the public eye. Tickets are $10 at the door and 100% of the revenue goes to the artists.
Impact Fest’s goal is to remind the public that to support local acts, all you have to do is show up. The music industry has changed drastically, and with the creation of services like Spotify and iTunes, smaller bands around the world are struggling to make a living off their art. In fact, the average Canadian musician earns only $7,228 annually, Streaming hasn’t proven to be an effective way for musicians to make a living. Spotify’s average rate of pay is only $0.0084 per stream. That means if your song gets 10,000 listens, you would only make $84. That’s not even enough to book 1 hour in a studio. How is a band supposed to make money when they can’t even afford to record a single song?
Evolution 107.9 has a passion for supporting local indie music and we strive to make a difference in Vancouver’s music scene. Impact Fest is the latest effort to support the little guys. If that’s important to you, please join us for an amazing night of live music, and do your part to support Vancouver’s music community. Doors are at 8:00 PM and Pleasure Blimps hits the stage at 8:45 PM. Tickets are $10 and you must be 19+ to attend.
