Don’t you just love this time of year? Warm, cozy nights accompanied by eggnog (and a splash of rum), and your favourite Christmas movie. Listening to those classic Christmas songs while you decorate the house. Having big, delicious dinners and quality time with your loved ones. It’s officially December, which means I am in Christmas mode. All I can think about is finishing the semester and getting home to see my family and friends. I’m really hoping for snow. There’s nothing I love more than a white Christmas. Well, that, and Christmas parties. I live for dressing up and celebrating Christmas with some good friends. That’s why I’m thinking of getting a few friends together and checking out the Eighth Annual 604 Records Christmas Party at the Railway Club this year! On Friday, December 15th, the Railway Stage and Beer Cafe is celebrating Christmas in style.
The musical entertainment will be provided by three great artists. Mathew V, who is an up and coming singer/songwriter from Vancouver. After moving to London at the age of 17 to learn to write pop music, his British pop and old school soul influences have led him to write emotive and powerful pop songs.
Schwey, which is a group that formed in 2013. They don’t have any specific genre, but that’s what makes their performances so exciting. Funk influences meld with modern pop, and R&B fused with hip-hop and surging indie rock. Their music is all about the groove, it doesn’t need any specific label.
Fionn, twin sisters who have been singing together and performing since they were 12 years old. Now, at 19, Alanna and Brianne have developed a voice that is entirely their own. With influences by Lorde and Hozier, their songs suggest an old, wise soul lives behind Fionn’s fresh, young faces.
I am so excited to be celebrating Christmas with the Railway Club. You can’t pass this up. Tickets are 12 dollars and the doors open at 8:00 pm. See you there!
