Using an applied research model means the AIRC Lab conducts research to solve real world problems. Clients come directly to BCIT’s AIRC Lab with a problem they have defined. These problems are then subjected to an interdisciplinary perspective to ensure a robust solution is identified. Research findings will then be made available to police departments and other organizations involved in justice and public safety issues. The AIRC Lab can receive comprehensive data sets from a variety of agencies, which may include a variety of criminal offences, social issues or emergency / crises management subject areas. It is from these 3rd party data sets that research is conducted. The lab can also facilitate software validation and human computer interface research within the context of intelligence and analysis field.
