School of Business granted initial accreditation from ACBSP

The BCIT School of Business has been granted initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Board of Commissioners. The accreditation helps validate BCIT as having an advanced post-secondary business program.

The ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. The ACBSP accredits business, accounting, and business-related programs at the associate, baccalaureate, master, and doctorate degree levels worldwide.

“This was an important quality journey that demonstrates BCIT’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, organizational learning and student success” said Robin Hemmingsen, Dean, School of Business. “Most importantly the accreditation process, and accreditation award itself, served to validate BCIT’s unique model that focuses on industry alignment as a means of delivering high, quality professional business education.”

However, the accreditation process is far from complete. There are several notes and conditions attached to the initial accreditation, and the Board will reassess the application every two years to ensure the terms are being met.
