Open House Challenge winner announced

L-R: Michael Boronowski, manager, Student Recruitment; Jung Tai Liu; and Dave Pinton, acting director, Marketing and Communications.

Congratulations to Jung Tai Liu, winner of the Open House Challenge!

Jung Tai collected stamps from all six program sectors during Open House, qualifying him for the grand prize draw. He will apply the $5,000 prize toward his tuition in the Technology Teacher Education program, in which he starts this fall.

“Open House was really helpful,” he said. “I really appreciated being able to talk to current students in the Technology Teacher Education program and other programs; it was like being in a village where everyone shared their insider knowledge.”

Jung Tai had already applied and been accepted to the program (he’d known since eleventh grade that this was the career path for him) but the financial help is very much appreciated.

“I enjoyed meeting Roger [Bortignon, the program head for Technology Teacher Education] at Open House and I’m looking forward to starting at BCIT this fall,” he said.

This wasn’t the only prize handed out: several programs won awards for their displays, too.
