Aboriginal students tour Port Mann construction site

Port Mann visit

BCIT Aboriginal students visit the Port Mann Bridge construction site.

BCIT students enjoyed an up-close look at one of the biggest construction projects in Metro Vancouver recently. Aboriginal students from a variety of programs got a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Port Mann Bridge construction site thanks to a tour organized by Aboriginal Youth Intern Victoria Morgan of the Aboriginal Youth Internship Program and BCIT Aboriginal Services.

The students, from BCIT’s Chemical and Environmental Technology, Electrical Apprenticeship, and Geomatics programs, were invited to discover career opportunities at the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

A visit to the Port Mann Bridge construction site was followed by a tour of Colony Farms Restoration Park led by BCIT graduate Robin Taylor, environmental manager at TI Corporation.
