BCIT and Brazilian university announce digital partnership

A distinguished Brazilian university, Pontifical Catholic University of Parana (PUCPR), and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) have signed an agreement to develop a joint Digital Animation Certificate Program offered in PUCPR in the state of Parana, Brazil.

BCIT and PUCPR recognize the need and importance of internationalization and are joining forces to deliver this International Certificate Program to Brazilian students in Curitiba, Parana.

Brazil has a strong economy, a rapidly growing middle class, and has been chosen to host the World Cup in 2014 and the Summer Olympic Games in 2016. The demand for highly qualified professionals in the digital animation industry is higher than ever.

“The BCIT-PUCPR partnership is the first of its kind in Brazil and is considered the most innovative delivery model in our country,” commented by Dr. Alvaro Amarante, Director of External Relations. “This outstanding training and education program will allow Brazilian students and professionals to meet the fast growing industry in media and advertising.”

Attending the signing ceremony on behalf of BCIT at the Vancouver Convention Center, were Vice President Paul Dangerfield, Education, Research and International, Lawrence Gu, Dean of International at BCIT and Ms. Lorena Chatwell, BCIT International.  Dr. Amarante, and Ms. Anelise Hofmann, Coordinator of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, represented PUCPR.
