In 2009, the School of Health Sciences (SoHS) will witness a number of accreditations taking place in several of its programs. Accreditation provides an opportunity to focus on the goal to continuously improve the quality of health-care education. Accreditation completed by such agencies as the Canadian Medical Association, through follow-ups and program reviews, ensures that programs are continuously providing the quality of education that meets industry standards, and helps position the SoHS as the vanguard of institutions responding to the needs and challenges of the healthcare industry.
More than half (eight out of 14) of the School’s already accredited programs will be working on accreditation this year:
- Radiation Therapy
- Medical Laboratory Science
- Cardiac Science
- Nursing
- Environmental Health Science
- Prosthetics and Orthotics
- Biomedical Engineering
- Clinical Genetics
The School of Health Sciences is striving to transform the accreditation process into a regular cycle of review for all programs—thus assisting with the management of the accreditation workload and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
