Examples From Around the World

All over the globe, citizens and governments have begun to review their system of dams. Hundreds of dams have already been dismantled in an attempt to restore the health and vitality of rivers.

France
Two dams on the Loire River were dismantled recently. Both dams were relics of the 19th century, and their removal will help restore one of Europe's most important spawning grounds for Atlantic salmon.
