BCIT is pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Petrie as Executive Director, Stakeholder Relations.
Cynthia joins BCIT from the provincial government, where she most recently served as Chief of Staff to the BC Minister of Energy and Mines. During her more than five years with the BC Government, Cynthia worked in the Ministers’ Offices of Education and Transportation and the Deputy Minister’s Office of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.
Cynthia’s solutions-based approach and ability to build strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect have produced tangible results. Her career highlights include successfully managing a trans-boundary mining issue between BC and Alaska, leading to an inter-jurisdictional Memorandum of Understanding. Cynthia has also worked to raise awareness among industry stakeholders about the importance of establishing good relationships with all levels of government and First Nations before moving ahead with land-based projects.
“I look forward to bringing my leadership and experience in achieving positive and productive relationships with various stakeholders to BCIT,” says Cynthia.
Whether it has been with industry, Aboriginal leadership, municipal, federal and provincial governments, or community leaders, Cynthia works to find common ground, seek consensus, source solutions, and deliver results.
Cynthia Petrie will begin her new role at BCIT effective March 21, 2016.
