Three Areas I Want to Improve Upon

You’re education is never complete. Quite the opposite in fact. The more I learn, the more I discover additional avenues to pursue. I think this is typical of BCIT students in particular, since we cover a little bit of everything. Three examples come to mind.

Three Areas I Want to Improve Upon:

1) :  :  My time spent with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and inDesign has opened up a world of visual creativity. I’ve had the opportunity to use this software for many BCIT projects. I’ve only cracked the surface of what’s possible and am planning to continue refining these skills after graduation. The next step for me will be getting into video editing using iMovie and Premiere.

2) :  :  After countless presentations at BCIT, I feel that my public speaking skill-set has improved drastically. I am more comfortable speaking in front of groups and am getting better at engaging the audience. The next step for me is improving my “on camera” skills. For whatever reason, speaking to a camera is a difficult venture for me. I’ll be getting some chances to improve on this during my internship.

3) :  :  I’ve learned a lot about eMarketing from BCIT. Now I’m getting a chance to showcase this knowledge at my internship (which is heavily eMarketing based). One area I am currently lacking in is HTML coding. I have taken a couple online courses, am learning Dreamweaver in school, and am reading “How-Tos” online. The next step is to take a summer web design course.

Only time will tell how my progress in these areas will fair. Who knows? Maybe another spontaneous interest will take there place. Truthfully, I hope not. After-all, there is such a thing as “too many areas of interest.”

  1. Try http://www.w3schools.com/ for HTML and other web technologies. They have great beginner’s guides. I used them a lot in first year. :)
