Partnerships with the CIM
The CIM intends to develop relationships and partner with others to avoid duplication of effort, and to capitalize on work already done by other organizations. We are currently working or in discussion with:
- BC Public Works Association
- BC Water and Waste Association
- Centre for Transportation and Infrastructure at the U of Saskatchewan
- Government Finance Officers of B.C.
- Indian and Northern Affairs Canada
- Local Government Asset Management Working Group
- Lower Mainland Asset Management Working Group
- National Round Table on Sustainable Infrastructure
Our intent is to develop long-term partnerships within each of the following sectors, and provide benefits as described below:
Federal Government Agencies
- Ability to directly influence leadership in infrastructure management
- Ability to implement InfraGuide best practices
- More effective use of Federal infrastructure contributions ($500 million/year)
- Promotion of Local Government self-sufficiency
- Promotion of related research
- Enhancement of the currency, scope (number and level of detail) and application of infrastructure best practices
- Reduced fees for CIM products and services
Provincial Government Agencies
- Ability to directly influence leadership in infrastructure management - an issue critical to the Provincial economy
- Ability to implement best practices, including financial management reforms (PSAB)
- More effective use of Provincial infrastructure contributions ($500 million/year)
- Promotion of Local Government self-sufficiency
- Enhancement of the currency, scope (number and level of detail) and application of infrastructure best practices
- Reduced fees for CIM products and services
Municipal Government Agencies
- Easy access to comprehensive, current, and relevant best practices - "how to" manuals and tools
- Ability to measure and improve local government performance
- Ability to directly influence leadership in infrastructure management - an issue critical to local economies
- Access to education and research on developing and implementing best practices, including reforms to financial
management (PSAB)
- More effective use of infrastructure funds (estimated at $40 billion/year Canada-wide)
- Promotion of financial self-sufficiency
- Reduced fees for CIM products and services
Industry Associations
- Ability to directly influence leadership and reform in infrastructure management at the National, Provincial
and Local government levels
- Ability to integrate infrastructure related activities with other key stakeholders
- An effective vehicle for coordinating and delivering Association related education and research
- Improved ability to promote the development and application of comprehensive, current, and relevant best
practices - "how to" manuals and tools
- Reduced fees for CIM products and services for Association members
Corporations
- Easy access to comprehensive, current, and relevant best practices - "how to" manuals and tools
- Ability to directly influence leadership and reform in infrastructure management at the National, Provincial
and Local government levels

- Ability to promote the Company through CIM activities
