Developed by GHD in conjunction with CBS, this competency-based certificate maps to the contents of the International Infrastructure Management Manual and the UK PAS55 Asset Management Specification. The CIM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Master Municipal Construction Documents Association with regard to working jointly to develop educational credentials and provincial standards for infrastructure-related topics.
The CIM hosted a meeting to present the MMCD CAD Standards Project. This project involves the development of AutoCAD and Civil 3D CAD standards, and the development of standards and processes for the submission of post construction as-built data to a municipality upon construction completion (private land development and capital infrastructure projects).
The CIM presented a one-day seminar on infrastructure asset management featuring Chris Champion, CEO of the IPWEA, developers of the International Infrastructure Management Manual. Speaker's presentations are now available for downloading.
The CIM has developed a new Associate Certificate of Public Works Supervision in conjunction with the Public Works Association of BC. While the credential is still undergoing the approval process at BCIT, a number of individual courses for the Associate Certificate will be running this fall.
The CIM is developing a new academic credential in Infrastructure Management. The Executive Certificate of Infrastructure Management is an executive-MBA-style program for those managing or directing public and private infrastructure assets. Currently in the development stage, we expect to begin courses in 2010 January.
Dr. Guy Félio has joined the CIM as an Advisor. Dr. Félio is the President of Infrastructure Strategies and Research, and is well-known across North America for his expertise in Infrastructure Asset Management.

The CIM will be attending the next meeting of the National Roundtable for Sustainable Infrastructure Management in Toronto. The intent is to discuss recommendations on the Framework for the assessment of the state, performance, and management of Canada's core public infrastructure (an NRTSI-NRC project) as well as the plan for Phase 2 of this project.
The CIM is participating in the Local Government Asset Management Working Group, a new initiative of the Ministry of Community Development.
