Infrastructure Education Initiatives

The Centre for Infrastructure Management is currently offering or developing three academic credentials with an infrastructure focus. A graduate credential in Asset Management will be delivered in the Fall of 2010 at the BCIT downtown campus in conjunction with GHD and the Chifley Business School of Australia. An Executive MBA-style advanced credential in Infrastructure Management is being developed at the managerial/strategic level, and an Associate Certificate of Public Works Supervision is being developed jointly with the Public Works Association of BC at the operator/technician level.

Vocational Graduate Certificate of Physical Asset Management

The CIM, in conjunction with GHD and the Chifley Business School of Australia (CBS), will be offering this Graduate Credential in Physical Asset Management in the Fall of 2010. Developed by GHD in conjunction with CBS, this competency-based certificate maps to the contents of the International Infrastructure Management Manual and the UK PAS55 Asset Management Specification. Advanced Credential in Infrastructure Management (Under Development)

Managers and executives involved in the management of infrastructure at the strategic level require a diverse set of skills drawn from the technical, financial, planning, organizational, and public policy disciplines. We're in the process of developing a multi-disciplinary credential that combines a rigorous, comprehensive curriculum with practical applications delivered in an executive MBA-style model over a 10 month period. The credential is currently under development and undergoing BCIT approvals, but we anticipate that approvals will be in place by 2010 summer.

Associate Certificate In Public Works Supervision (Under Development)

A Public Works Supervisor provides efficient and effective public works services by leading a specialized work force and managing resources, programs, budgets, and contracts. This 23 credit credential has been developed with the Public Works Association of BC and and combines technical, managerial, and supervisory skills. The credential is undergoing BCIT approvals, and many of the electives are already being offered. The first of 3 Public Works Institute seminars will be offered in the Fall of 2009. more >>
