The Next Forensics Info Session Is June 10th

Joyce Law describing programs to attendeesFor those of you looking for more information about BCIT Forensic Science and Technology programs, please join us at our information session on June 10, 2013 at the Downtown Campus starting at 5:30pm.

At the info session, each Program Coordinator does a general presentation about their option, giving you tips on how to apply, when to apply, and what the career prospects are in their area. After the presentation, the attendees are divided up according to the option they’re most interested in and then are given more in-depth information from their particular Program Coordinator. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions specific to your circumstances and background, to see if your career aspirations line-up with what we have to offer.

Forensics Course Schedule for Classes Starting in September

A pile of books with a pencil and apple on topWe haven’t even hit summer yet, and it’s already time to start thinking about Fall courses…

I recently uploaded our Fall term 2013 course schedule to our website, so you can use it to plan your course load for September-November 2013. BCIT has recently updated the way it displays courses online, hopefully making it easier for you guys to find and enroll in them.

Some important dates to remember:

  • May 24th – Web preview (You can see the Fall 2013 courses online, but can’t register for them yet)
  • May 26th – Web registration opens (You can start registering online)
  • May 27th – General registration opens (You can now register by any method)

So go ahead and plan for your next semester and get ready to register before important courses fill up!

It’s also important to note that, starting today, May 13th, BCIT has changed its payment options for courses. Find out more by visiting the BCIT website.

New Course – FSCT 7843 Pediatric Examiner Sexual Violence Core Education

FSCT 7843 – Pediatric Examiner Sexual Violence Core Education
This 45 hour comprehensive course is designed to broaden the expertise of nurses and physicians who currently provide or will be providing pediatric sexual violence medical evaluation. The focus of this Canadian-based, basic to intermediate level training will be on caring for the sexually abused pediatric population. This evidence-based course will be interactive, case-based and provide practical opportunities for clinicians to obtain feedback on different practice elements including documentation..
DATE: In-class: May 21-24, 2013 and Online: May 25-July 5, 2013
TIME: 08:30 to 17:00
LOCATION: BCIT Downtown Campus, 555 Seymour Street and online

Nurse Examiners Education Day on June 3rd
