Got any plans for May long weekend? You do now! The 4th annual GO Fest, Whistler’s Great Outdoors Festival, brings family fun and free concerts to Whistler Village over the May Long Weekend (May 19-22). GO Fest also hosts adventure on the mountain and in the valley, and arts and culture events inspired by Whistler’s unique mountain vibe will take place over four action-packed days. There are new activities like forged axe throwing, alpine dog training tips and tricks, and you can learn to sail with the Whistler Sailing Association May 20 and May 21 with certified instructors on Alta Lake. There are artsy activities too like art sessions at Crystal Lodge Art Gallery, and bear sculpting. Explore The Point Artist Run Centre and The Point on Alta Lake’s west side for a day of activities and events starting at noon, with brunch at the Cypress Point Café, and canoe decorating and live music. Are you a bike rider? It’s Mountain Bike Heritage Week at the Whistler Museum. There’s also a road bike group ride on Saturday with the Whistler Cycling Club. Bring your kids too! There will be a GO Green nature scavenger hunt at Florence Peterson Park. Find natural treasures and learn about the importance of biodiversity, forests, waterways and wildlife. There’s drop-in tennis for families at the Whistler Olympic Plaza too! On Saturday, there will be a performance by The Zolas at 7:30 at the GO Fest main stage and a performance by Dear Rouge at 7:30. You can follow Go Fest on Facebook for more information.
