Welcome: Getting off to a good start

Welcome to the very first issue of Thrive, a quarterly e-zine that takes an honest look at the ups and downs of student life and offers practical tips, resources and web links to help you get the most out of your BCIT experience.

Your first few weeks at school can be exciting and stressful.  If you’re a new student, finding a parking spot, locating your classes, buying books and supplies, and getting up to speed may leave you feeling a bit frazzled.  If you’re returning to BCIT, you may encounter new situations and challenges that force you out of your comfort zone.  You’ll be seeing lots of new faces along the way, so take time to get to know your instructors, classmates, and others who can offer support or lend a helping hand if you need it.

In this issue, we focus on getting off to a good start.  You’ll find proven strategies to help you study smarter and reduce stress, as well as invaluable advice from the experts - experienced BCIT students and graduates.

Best of luck in your studies!
