Education and Research

the Building Science
Centre of Excellence

The Building Science Centre of Excellence (BSCE) delivers an advanced research and educational program in building science for the construction industry. The BSCE or the Centre promotes an increased understanding of core fundamental physical principles of building operation so that these can be applied in the development of improved building technologies and more sustainable buildings.

The Centre's mandate is to support the construction industry with outcomes that transcend the regional limits as demonstrated by its participation in major international research efforts such as the Annex 41 by the International Energy Agency: Whole Building Heat Air and Moisture Response, and currently Annex 55: Reliability of Energy Efficient Building Retrofitting - Probability Assessment of Performance & Cost (RAP-RETRO).

Graduate Student Funding Opportunities
There is funding available on a competitive basis to graduate students. Please see our team to learn more about our researchers' interests and then contact the faculty individually for more information.

The two new master's level degree programs in building science offered at BCIT starting in September, 2011 received a funding boost from the provincial government, it was announced May 20.
